We are also celebrating World Turtle Day on 23 May, an annual observance that aims to raise awareness and protect turtles and tortoises and their disappearing habitats around the world. Vilamendhoo is fortunate to be located in the South Ari Atoll, a year-round turtle hotspot with seasonal turtles nesting on our island. You may check this turtle hatching video from last year. Guests at Vilamendhoo can join our ecologically considerate ‘ Turtle Excursion ’ for a chance to spot and swim with these graceful creatures. We have also launched a social media campaign called #TurtleTuesday, where we share interesting facts about sea turtles and ways of protecting them. Sunny greetings from the Sunny Side of Life, and welcome to the April edition of our newsletter.

We hope you had a wonderful Easter celebration as much as we did here on the island. During Easter, our team organised activities for our younger guests who enjoyed the Easter Egg Hunt, Sand Castle Competition, and some fun games under the sun. Our overwater Duniye Spa also provided our adult guests with the chance to be pampered with the ‘Sweet Easter Treat’, a unique chocolate-themed massage. All guests also found pleasure in our Easter Sunday-themed buffet that featured both international and local favourites.

Time flies! It’s almost the end of the year, and our guests are visiting the island to have a Vilamendhoo holiday before the 2020 ends. From the tropical scenery to the abundant house reef teeming with marine life and fifty-odd dive sites to explore; great memories are being made on the shores by our in-house guests. This coming festive season, we have prepared for eleven days full of activities in our festive season program, from gala dinners to cocktail parties, and wholesome family activities including gingerbread house making to a mini Olympic. Time flies. Vilamendhoo is reopening on November 1, 2020, My Team and I are excited and looking forward to having you back. The island’s house reef is teaming with marine life that adds color to our underwater garden. The resort reopening will be done with safely in mind. Our Dive Center will be open to operate dive excursions including Whale shark, Manta & Turtle and Snorkeling boat trips. Renewal of vow ceremonies and romantic dining will continue. If you require more information, contact us via email, or you may also use the live chat function on our website or get in touch with your travel agent.

Also, kindly remind our guests of the following;

• Our Travel Updates page is constantly updated to provide our guests with as much as information possible to help plan travel.
• Vilamendhoo also facilitate PCR Tests including free tests for guests staying a minimum 7 nights who require a certificate to present to airlines and arrival countries.
• I would also like to remind our guests traveling on November to submit the Traveller Health Declaration and copy of the PCR test required for arrivals by the Maldives Immigration Authority via https://imuga.immigration.gov.mv, 24 hours prior to your travel.
